Our take
I snagged the DJ-505 open box and it’s a beast. The built-in TR-808/909 drum machines are a blast for adding live percussion, and the 16 pads are responsive. XLR outs are a plus for pro setups. However, it’s heavy and bulky, not great for backpack gigs. The open-box condition had some scuffs, but everything works. For the price, you get a studio-grade controller with unique Roland sound, but expect a learning curve with the drum sequencer.
